Tanmoy Bhaduri, 50, observed blood in his stool in June 2019 and arranged an appointment with his primary physician. After his colonoscopy, Tanmoy was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon (rectosigmoid junction) cancer. The doctor urged him to seek medical advice from a specialist. Tanmoy was quick to research on the internet, where he came across the name of the best cancer doctor in Kolkata.

“The tumour measured 4 by 3 centimetres, and the oncologist stated I had it for years," Tanmoy explained. "The oncologist and his team informed me that I required immediate treatment. They discovered cancer cells in a lymph node on the exterior wall of my colon (rectosigmoid junction) when I went in for more in-depth examination," he added.

The Treatment that Eradicated Cancer

Tanmoy had radiation treatments and chemotherapy for five weeks to decrease both the tumour and the lymph node, taking ten pills every day. He has a physically hard job, but he was able to work virtually the entire time he was undergoing chemotherapy, up until the fifth week.

He had a 5-hour surgery to remove the malignant tumour in October 2019 and stayed in the hospital for two or three days. An ileostomy was performed as part of the treatment, which created an opening to help the body get rid of waste using an ostomy bag.

Living with the Treatment

Tanmoy was remarkably able to continue working during his colon cancer treatment in Kolkata and avoided some of the predicted chemotherapy side effects, such as hair loss.

He is now back to his typical active work pace and is in good shape. He is attempting to eat more healthily and is spreading the news about upcoming screenings.

Bottom Line

He utilises his colon cancer experience to encourage friends and family to get examined. He said, "It's always in the back of my mind. Get your colonoscopy when you're 50, and if you have symptoms at any age, visit a colon cancer doctor immediately."
